The left over soy from making soy milk is called okara in Japan or biji in Korea. I primarily make a scramble out it or a Korean stew - biji jigae. Recipes for both are on my blog! And if you google vegan okara recipes, you'll likely find some more.

Wal-mart has started marking the products that they make that are gluten-free on the back of the package. I haven't had much luck finding specialty items there such as gluten-free breads or pastas. It does make some of the basics cheaper and leaves more money in my pockets for the expensive GF products. She should also check her local grocery store closely. Two of my local chains mark their GF items clearly. One even marks it for vegan so it's easy to find products that are both vegan and GF.

Like "Spiderman 4", I'm from Australia and have only seen plain Tofutti here. I eat it occasionally with fresh chives mixed in, and it tastes OK. But there is no way I'd use 2 tablespoonsful.

If it is specificallly gluten free she's looking for, the best money value is usually online I find. That way u buy from anywhere and most have decent shipping.
www.kinnikinnick.com has the best shipping, 10 bucks for up to 200 bucks order. The products are shipped room temp and u freeze upon arrival. Best pastries, breads, donuts Ive found> Site lets u organize yoru searching by allergen

Enjoy Life is a good brand for multiple allergies, try www.glutenfree.com for their products. I honestly dont find them to be too tasty but when u need multiple allergies u dont find many options.

Glutino is another good brand, www.glutenfree.com, that has good stuff with multiple allergies.

Ians also is a good kid friendly brand for multiple allergies. Those are mostly at Whole FOods.

www.amazon.com also has some GF foods, stock varies.

Other good sitse
www.glutensolutions.com
www.glutenfreemall.com

HOpe that helps.

Trader Joe's! They don't specialize in vegan or gluten-free, but they have a good variety of interesting foods that will meet her requirements. Their prices are low (that's their thing ... if they can't get a special deal on it, they don't carry it).

For gluten free bread, you may need to go to Whole Foods. Other supermarkets will carry it too, but it probably won't be cheaper. Gluten-free breads are usually kept frozen, not in the regular bread section.

7% trans fat does seem a bit excessive, doesn't it? And on top of that, there's also 7% saturated fat, and a grand total of 28.5% fat altogether (so, nearly half of the fat content is "naughty" fat). That's pretty high. Not as high as most (dairy) cheeses on the market, but still fractionally higher than a lot of fried snacks. I suppose you'd need to look at how much you actually use. I doubt that I would use as much as two tablespoons of that stuff in one go, and I certainly wouldn't use it every day - perhaps once a week, but probably even less. I can't comment on the "glue" taste. The plain one is fairly bland, just like tofu is, so I'd always mix something else with it on the sandwich to give it flavour. There are flavoured varieties too - onion and herbs are two that I've seen. I haven't seen any other brands around, but I live Down Under, and Tofutti is the only brand we've imported here so far - that I know of.

Mono/di-glycerides can be vegan or animal based. The only way to know for sure would be to contact the manufacturer of the pie in question.

I personally wouldn't recommend eating any store bought pie though. I've never found one that actually tastes good (i.e. not ridiculously sweet to the point where you can't taste any actual fruit), and it's really so simple (but maybe time consuming depending on the type of pie) to make your own.

I'd look to see if the crust has butter in it if I were you because butter is non-vegan. I dont' know about the glycerides though, sorry.

Nearly all pretzels are vegan, but some of the more exotic varieties are flavored with milk, butter, cheese, and honey. Check the list of ingredients.

If you're counting carbs, however, why would you even consider pretzels, which are usually made from white flour and are almost nothing but simple carbohydrates and salt?

I would recommend buying them from vitacost.com. This is where I buy all of my organic personal care products. It is the cheapest place on the web to buy them too! The prices are discounted up to 50%!! See for yourself:
http://www.vitacost.com/productResults.aspx?Ns=P_SoldQuantity|1&Ntt=jason&previousText=jason&Ntk=products&No=0&x=0&y=0

This will save you tons of money. Plus, the shipping charge is a flat rate of $5 (meaning that no matter how much you buy, your shipping cost will always be $5. So I usually buy order in bulk to spread out the shipping cost and receive the most value from my purchase).

Buying natural personal care products at places like Whole Foods is way too expensive to me. They rarely ever have any good sales.

I have seen it at the County Market and Walgreens by me, I don't know what you have for stores around you but you should be able to find it.
