Question:
i went veggie almost a year ago and kinda want to go vegan. I really hate the way animals are treated. Being veggie is hard as it is, though i would never go back to eating meat, because you always have to read labels and know what you can and cant eat
if i go vegan (or choose to stay veggie) what can i eat??? i really want it to be healthy food also because im afraid of only eating junk food…also any vegan makeup products. Im using bare essentals now and they say its all natural and not tested on animals but i always have to be sure. Also any substitutes for eggs, dairy/cheese would be great because i am a baker and really hope i can continue to bake if i go vegan (ive already mostly cut out eggs but im not sure what to substitute with)
Thanks so much ahead of time, this means a lot to me!
thank you so much to everyone already and i am kinda a picky eater already so if your a picky veggie or vegan, plz help!! lol also i can’t wait to try the stuff youve suggested! THANKS

  2. I was a way pickier eater than I think anyone could be. lol All of my food was brown!
Since I became vegan and HAD to like veggies, I eat so much more variety. It’s crazy to think how limited my diet was before. It’s really ironic haha

Vegetables, grains, fruits, beans, rice, nuts… get recipes and try cooking. I can be really fun and it will open a whole world for you on different flavors, textures and spices.

Also, they have vegan substitutes for everything. I love Veganaise by Follow Your Heart. They can be pricey compared to regular mayo and cheese but they are a good alternative.

    Good luck :)

Cheese substitute – if you’re in the states, Daiya!! mmm…and nutritional yeast is an excellent cheese substitute (you can make great mac & cheese and things like that with it, but if you wanted something that would melt on a pizza, Daiya is the one)

  4. You can eat food.

  6. I am not a vegan, but I am a vegetarian, and most of the foods I eat are vegan.

Here is a list of foods you can eat, if you are a vegan:

    Breakfast options:
-Cereal with either soy or rice milk(great for iron and vitamin B12)
-Unfrosted poptarts(the frosted ones have gelatin)
-Pancakes-buy an old fashioned pancake mix, and substitute cow milk with either rice or soy milk and substitute the eggs with Ener-g’s egg replacer(sold online and at whole food stores).
-Vegan bacon strips and vegan sausage(Light life is a company the sells vegan bac’n and sausage strips and links. You can find lightlife products at a whole food store or a Stop & Shop, Pathmark, or Shop Rite).
    -Scrambled tofu(a substitute for eggs)
    -Fresh or canned fruit
-Bagel witheither jelly or vegan margarine(sold at whole food stores and mainstream supermarkets)

    Lunch Options:
-A vegan sandwich, made with Tofurky deli slices or Lightlife deli slices(can be found at a whole food store or Pathmark, Stop & Shop, and Shop Rite). You can add BBQ sauce to the sandwich.
-Bean burrito. You can add rice, corn, etc.(Taco Bell sells a bean burrito, too. It’s vegan, if you ask for it without cheese).
    -Fresh or canned fruit
    -Fresh or canned vegetables
-Veggie burger(Boca, Morningstar Farms, and Amy’s Kitchen makes veggie burgers)
    -Spaghetti
    -Chili with corn bread

    Dinner Options:
    -Morningstar Vegan riblets
-Lightlife Vegan Chick’n strips or Vegan Steak Strips
    -Tofurky’s vegan turk’y roast
-Plantain turnovers with rice, beans, and avacados
-Sesame tofu with rice(sold at chinese restaurants)
    -Spaghetti with soy nuggets
    -Vegetable Lasagna
    -Veggie Pizza(with vegan cheese)
-Whole Food Stores sell vegan cheese. Tofu scramble is a good substitute for eggs. It’s tasty and cholesterol free.
-Vegetarian baked beans with vegan hot dogs or Boca ground crumbles.

You can make vegan cakes, by buying a cake mix that doesn’t have milk(ex: Duncan Hines Lemon Cake or Strawberry Cake) and adding vegetable oil, water, and an egg replacer(Ener-g’s Egg replacer can be found at a whole food store and online). You can make the frosting with powdered sugar, soy or rice milk, vegan margarine, and either vanilla extract, almond extract, lemon extract, or chocolate).

  7. They have substitutes for just about anything you would eat as an omni: burgers, dogs, deli, bacon etc. Its all pretty good, actually. I like it.

I typically make my own meals though from healthier foods like beans and vegetables and whatnot. Stirfrying never gets old, no matter how much I eat it. I really like mexican food, too.

Its really healthy and full of protein and no fat. Can’t go wrong. Its the natural way so its the best way. It does taste good too. I’ll be eating and Ill say, ‘I can’t believe so many people will never taste this awesome food.’ Then Ill finish eating.

Anyways, most foods ARE vegan. Just look out for milk, casein, rennet, milk derivatives, eggs, gluten etc. on the ingridients. You’ll find after looking around that you pretty much know what is and what isn’t. The less ingridients the better, usually.

  8. I was also thinking of going vegan a while back. Ive seen how the milk is produced, and how meat is made, which is why i wanted to. Im allergic to a lot of things, so i have to be a really picky eater. but you can go online and find websites on vegan meals/snacks/etc. I looked it up myself, but couldn’t find anything to my liking. But your food choices may be more open then mine, so you can try that if you want.
