Question:
I know about 5~6 teacher I’m comfortable talking with, some better than others (two in particular). Most of them are twice my age, (they’re in their 30′s, most of them)
Topics I have talked about with them:
–Social Anxiety
–Art
–Technology
–Vegan/Vegetarian Lifestyle
– Books
–College / Philosophy Classes
–Past Experiences as high school/college student / Prom
–Music / Television
Other Topics not discussed yet:
– Not a topic, but complaining /venting
– Other people (not talking behind their backs, but just about a person)
– Experience dealing with as*h*les / bullies
– Sex/Relationships before marriage
And how do you complement an adult you admire without it coming off weird (me as a male to female and male teachers)? Especially one that you think of as a hero?
I think you should talk about subjects that are specific to what the teacher actually teaches…
talk about music w/ music teacher
talk about science w/ science teacher
talk about art w/ art teacher
talk about books w/ English teacher
talk about vegan w/ health teacher…
you get the idea…,
I wouldnt recommend talking about personal/touchy topics with your teachers….ie: sex, relationships, dealing with a$$holes, etc…
you may want to consider talking to the school councelor about those things, or your parents’, or close friends, or close relatives you trust…….i say this because there have been so many inapproriate “teacher/student relationships” going around…not saying that is you or anything
and as far as complements…again, i would keep it specific to what they teach…something like, “I really enjoyed the way you taught that. you made it so clear for me. thanks.”….something like that.
hope this helps.
