Since I was a little girl I was an on-and-off binge eater to handle the stresses I went through at such a young age. My “coping” “worked” until grade 10 when I had a nervous breakdown and nothing was ever the same again. Things surfaced that I didn’t know we’re there but I continued to shovel the food into my mouth. I was a glutton. When I graduated from high school my weight began to skyrocket and for the first time I gained large amounts of weight in little time…I was flabbergasted and just continued to eat it away and then I’d work out and lose weight and things seemed ok but they weren’t. Even when I ate ‘good’ meats, ‘good’ dairy and ‘good’ breads I’d be in physical pain. I moved in with my husband (then was my boyfriend) in 2007 and gained the most I had ever gained…I was 208 lbs and felt like I had nowhere to turn. I slipped into a cold, hard depression and closed myself off to the world. I researched hours on end to find out what was wrong with me and then I found the answer…Binge Eating Disorder. Once you have an idea of what you have then getting help seems like the right answer. I went to a psychologist, who diagnosed me with Binge Eating Disorder (on top of my other problems and disorders). I wasn’t shocked since I just found out what was going on prior to seeing her. Midlands Vegan Campaigns staged a free food fair in Lichfield on Sat 12 April 2008. The event attracted an estimated 600 people, over half of whom were meat eaters! For a full report, see www.veganmidlands.org.uk


A five and a half minute visual summary of the World Vegan Day Celebrations in Melbourne, Australia. This event took place on Sunday 26th October 2008 at the historic Abottsford convent. The event included many vegan foods, vegan products, vegan friendly services and environmental organisations as well as informative presentations, music and great like-minded association. Thanks to all people that worked hard to make it happen.
