Question:
Animals have the same desires and feelings as humans. They desire a mate, a family, food, shelter and to live free and happy. So why do people think they have the right to take away this freedom from animals? Murder is considered sin because we don’t have the right to take the lives of others, yet we do this to animals every day without any guilt or consideration.

tried asking in the philosophy section, but I was hoping to see what other veggies and vegans think.
WHAT IS WITH THE RUDE RESPONSES! I am asking a legitimate ethical and philosphical question. I do not appricate being called dumb Cypher! I bet I am smarter than YOU! I study law and environmetal engineering. What do *you* do? Nothing I bet. Don’t answer if you are going to be rude!
You to Diliya, my question is NOT nonsense, I am not arrogant, ignorant, or close minded. I asked the question because I wanted to know what other thought. If any one here is close minded and ignorant that would be you.
Thank you lo_mcg that was a brilliant answer well reasoned and logical. Thanks.

Question:
There is a company called Quorn in the UK which makes incredibly realistic-looking and tasting, fake-steaks and chicken breasts, bacon strips, etc.
Theoretically, since they are made from mushroom protein and contain no animal products whatsoever, a vegan should not be opposed to eating this at all – or have I got it wrong?
