Question:
I’ve been a strict vegetarian for three years and just turned vegan in December. Months prior to that, the only thing I ate from an animal was honey.

The reason I don’t like being around some “moral” vegans, vegetarians, is due to the immense differences we have. I dislike the fact that many vegs I’ve encountered tend to “show off” their veg*ism and attack others for not being what they are. That and their hypocrisy as well as their naivete.

I dislike veg*s who eat things that taste and look exactly like the “real” thing; tofu chicken fingers. By doing so, you’re stating that you actually miss the taste of animals, which isn’t right if you’re a veg for moral reasons. I’m not saying I wouldn’t eat tofu, I do in fact, but adding dozens of ingredients to your vegeburger just so it can taste like the “real deal” is just asinine.

I dislike how most think it’s merely a diet when in fact it’s a lifestyle. I’m not the strictest vegan in the world, but I try to be if and when I can. Everything I own is vegan, soaps, toothpastes, shampoos, shoes, clothes etc. And owning pure vegan things when you’re a vegan yourself seems extremely rare from what I encounter, even though it’s not expensive nor difficult.

I might come off as one of those stereotypical “peta vegans” but that’s not what I am. I’m pretty much against any person (vegan or not) that will break the law just to make a point,.

Sincerely,

The Continental Communist.
I stated or, gave an example of what I owned to show that I’m quite strict about my vegan-ism. What I meant about “showing off” is certain vegans who wear shirts that say “Hey, look at me, I’m a vegan!” or put certain bumper stickers on their cars stating the same, or even introducing themselves as “Hello, I’m __, and I’m a veg.”
Also, I agree that having a complete “dislike” for someone is quite harsh, so let me rephrase. I dislike the lifestyle and dietary habits of most vegans I have encountered. I would still befriend a vegan who had a different lifestyle and ate differently than me, it would wrong not to just because of that.
I have no problem with vegetarians or vegans as a person, but if you call yourself a veg* and boast about yourself and your diet, while taking out a leather wallet to pay for a meal. I would have some dislike for you.

www.therenegadehealthshow.com – Last night I had an opportunity to interview Dr. Joel Fuhrman… So for the next 4 episodes, we’ll be talking about addictive foods, sea salt, essential nutrients for vegans and raw foodies and the vegan diet for kids. The interview was awesome and I’m thrilled to pass it along to you. Take a look…

Question:
I want to be vegan, but I’m 14, and my mom obviously pays for things. Is there some kind of website that shows you which stores have certain vegan things. Like I need to find a store near me that sells vegan cheese, egg replacers, vegan margarine, etc. Mostly I’m having a hard time finding the dairy-type products that are vegan. It needs to be somewhere near me like Food Lion, Publix, Wal Mart, Ingles, etc. Please help.
