  5. vegan french toastIt’s an experimental recipe in progress — I was a big french toast fan in my pre-vegan days. I’ve been using stale french bread or toasting the bread lightly first, dipping it in a mixture and frying it in a little vegetable oil. It’s good with powdered sugar, maple syrup, the whole shebang. The mixture is soymilk, a tablespoon or two of white flour, a teaspoon or so of vanilla, a bunch of cinnamon, a little nutmeg, and a dash of salt, whipped up with a fork. I’ve tried it with brown sugar in there as well, but powdered sugar seems to work best. The trick is to get it wet quickly and then fry it right away on medium-high heat, because otherwise it gets pretty soggy. Careful, it sticks to the pan if you don’t put oil in there.

Bother aside, it takes about five minutes to make and is really, really delicious.
