  2. Mix up a whole bunch of greens and chop them up in the blender. Add in some gound glass to help digest the garabage. Cook and enjoy ; )

  3. I have not tried these yet.

    Beet this Burger (grand prize winner)

    The burger has the unusual addition of 1 tbs of grated beets — just enough to give it a pleasant color.

    1 Tbs finely grated raw beet
    1/2 cup cooked oats (quick or regular rolled oats)
    1 cup uncooked oats (quick or regular rolled oats)
    1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely ground
    1/4 cup almonds, coarsely ground
    2 Tbs sesame seeds
    1 Tbs Vegix seasoning or instant vegetable broth
    1/4 cup green pepper, minced
    1/4 cup celery, minced
    1/4 cup onion, minced
    1 tsp dried basil
    1/4 tsp dried thyme
    1/4 tsp dried thyme
    1/4 tsp ground sage
    1/4 tsp mustard powder
    2 Tbs soy sauce
    1 Tbs nutritional yeast flakes (optional)

    Mix all ingredients together well. Form into patties and gill until cooked through. Serve on whole wheat rolls with tomato slices and your favorite condiments.

    Judges Choice: Tofu Burger
    yield: 6 burgers

    Ingredients:
    1 lb tofu
    1/2 cup whole wheat flour
    3 Tbsp. nutritional yeast
    2 Tbsp. vegetable bouillon powder
    pepper to taste
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1/4 cup (or more) sesame seeds
    1 small scrubbed potato
    1/4 tsp. (or more) garlic powder
    onion powder to taste, or one small onion

    Grind the tofu, potato and onion (if using) in a food processor. Don’t let it get too fine. Mix in remaining ingredients, shape into burgers and bake at around 350 degrees on a very lightly oiled cookie sheet for 15-20 minutes, turning once. They can also be fried.

    Grillable Tofu Burgers

    Ingredients (use vegan versions):
    * 1 square of firm tofu (1/2lb)
    * 1/4c of Tahini
    * 1/2c ground walnuts
    * 1t dill weed
    * 1T Tamari or Soy Sauce
    * 1C vegan bread crumbs

    Directions:
    Mash the Tofu with the Tahini. Add dill weed and tamari. Mix until well blended. Add vegan bread crumbs slowly until desired texture is achieved. The texture should be just stiff enough to form patties without being too moist. Form into patties and grill until brown on both sides.

  4. a simple grilled portabello mushroom is great as a burger, topped with cheese and the usual condiments. I also make a patty from mashed seasoned potatoes and canned beans, such as pintos. Fresh herbs, such as rosemary and thyme boost the flavor.

  5. I’ve never found one that works too well, you’re better off buying Boca.

  6. Hmmm… where to start? There are so many kinds of veg burgers! Here’s a recipe that sounds unlikely, but it turns out great and we like it a lot.

    Marvelous Meatless Mushroom Cheeseburgers

    1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
    1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp wheat germ (Kretchmer’s works fine)
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. salt (optional)
    1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
    1/8 tsp. dried oregano
    1/8 tsp. dried basil
    1/8 tsp garlic powder
    4 egg whites
    1/4 cup very finely chopped onions
    2 cups chopped mushrooms (about 1/4 inch pieces)
    4 ounces sliced lowfat cheddar, mozzarella, Swiss, or American cheese

    In a medium bowl combine flour, wheat germ, baking powder, and spices. Mix well.

    In another bowl, combine egg whites, onions, and mushrooms. Add to dry mixture, mixing until all ingredients are moistened.

    Shape mixture into four 3-1/2-inch burgers, wetting your hands slightly to prevent sticking.

    Preheat a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Oil it lightly or spray with a nonstick cooking spray.

    Place burgers on preheated skillet. Cook several minutes until nicely browned on both sides, turning burgers several times. When burgers are ready, top with cheese and heat just until cheese starts to melt.

    Serve on a burger bun or on a pita with your favorite burger fixins. Makes 4 servings.

  7. Sorry, i dont know of any, but i think it is best to experiment, and just see what is right for you. Use sauteed leek or sage and onion, etc,
    There is a good mix you can buy called ‘sosmix’ which you can make into sausages, burgers, etc etc.
