Question:
At Whole Foods deli they have this amazing general tso’s vegan chicken and I want to know where to get the pieces of soy chicken they use to make it – I’ve looked inside the store but I can’t find it at all.. and I asked the girl at the counter and she looked at me like I was in the wrong place. Please let me know if you know of a brand that is good. Thanks!
I hate people that do thumbs down.. I didn’t do it. Just wanted to let you know.

  1. you can buy the “fake meats” in the frozen food section.
    Or check out this recipe:

  2. doubtful whole foods uses a pre-made vegan chicken.

i have seen some amazing recipes with extra-firm tofu, frozen and thawed, which gives it a little more meaty texture, and then sliced up and batter-fried… it could then be drenched in general tso’s sauce.

if you don’t want that, there are premade vegan nuggets, and vegan chicken breasts made from a few companies that you could slice up and fry. Best, i don’t know, since i don’t mess with the premade meat substitutes, but have worked with tofu a fair amount.

  3. morning star is the best brand from “fake” meats :)

  4. I’m not sure if this is exactly what your asking, but two great brands of soy chicken are Quorn and Morning Harvest.
